I've been making my own moisturizers for YEARS. And this DIY Fab 'N Fast Rose-Hip Moisturizer is new ...
But the technique is similar to many moisturizers I've made ... especially really emollient ones ... ones that I need living in dry-climate L.A. You start with melting shea butter (you use raw organic ... which is grainy) to smooth it out, then adding oils and other skin-healing ingredients and whipping it to death.
Rosehip oil is often regarded as the "Oil of Youth". It's also called a "dry oil" because it's easily absorbed without leaving that oily skin residue.
Rosehip oil's other skincare benefits include brightening properties that help restore your skin's natural color and tone while lightening any unwanted dark blemishes. It also effectively reduces the appearance of scars, accelerates skin regeneration, facilitates the healing of wounds and burns, and soothes skin dryness and inflammation.
In other words ... good stuff. That's why jojoba oil is also included in this powerful moisturizer ... it also brightens, smooths, hydrates, and lightens those difficult under-eye areas. Not to mention that it soothes redness and controls oil production ... among several other skin benefits.
More good stuff. And I LOVE my Turkish coffee pot for making it ... so I can reserve my double boiler for food. Simply put the ingredients in, place it in a small pan with simmering water, and stir until melted.
I also like that my powerful immersion blender fits into it so that I can make the whole thing right in the same container. And ... did I mention ... it's also Fab 'N Fast ... only 5 ingredients and prep time is around 20 minutes INCLUDING the chilling.
So ... whip it up ...
A fabulous DIY, additive-free, organically-emollient rose-hip moisturizer addition to my Fab 'N Fast Beauty collection that keeps your face aglow at bedtime or under makeup all day.
Combine shea butter and jojoba oil in a double boiler or Turkish coffee pot over simmering water.
Stir mixture until shea butter melts. Remove from heat.
Add rosehip seed oil, vanilla bean powder, and honey. Transfer to a bowl if desired (I leave mine in the pot) and stir to combine.
Chill mixture in the fridge for at least 10 minutes or until solid.
Take out of the fridge, whip until fluffy, and store in a cosmetic jar in the fridge to keep the oil from oxidizing.
